Airwallex vs Wise Business: a head-to-head for multi-currency finance teams

Both replace a pile of foreign bank accounts - but they diverge on monthly fees, NetSuite support and what an AI agent can actually do with each.

Airwallex and Wise Business are the two names that keep appearing on the same shortlists for companies that collect from overseas customers and pay foreign suppliers. Per Audit Friendly's Airwallex review, Airwallex scored 76/100; the Audit Friendly review of Wise Business puts it at 72/100. The scores are close enough that the decision almost always comes down to specifics: how a company pays its contractors, which ledger it runs and whether a $0 monthly base matters more than a $31 one-time setup fee.

WHERE IT LOSES A business that needs checks, cash deposits or a line of credit from its operating account providerA company that needs one account for checks, cash deposits, a credit line or lending

On the core job - hold balances in local currencies, convert only when needed - both tools do the work. Airwallex gives a business local account details in 20-plus currencies, keeps balances in those currencies, and charges 0.5 percent above interbank for 11 major currencies. Wise Business issues local details in 22 currencies, converts at the mid-market rate from a published fee starting at 0.23 percent in the US, and handles batch payments to up to 1,000 recipients at once. Wise's conversion fee can come out cheaper on major corridors; Airwallex bundles cards, bill pay, invoicing and card acceptance in the same login, which matters if a team wants one place for all spend. The accounting integrations also split differently: Airwallex connects to Xero, QuickBooks Online and NetSuite; Wise Business connects to Xero and QuickBooks Online but the published connector list does not include NetSuite or Sage Intacct.

On pricing structure, the two companies have made opposite choices. Airwallex's Explore plan is $0 a month and includes up to 10 Spend users; a 25-person team moves to Grow at $12 per Spend user a month plus a platform fee that Airwallex does not publish on its site. Wise Business has no monthly fee at all - the US page lists a one-time setup cost of $31, the Canadian page lists 55 Canadian dollars, and after that a company pays per transaction. For a small team that converts modest volumes, Wise's structure keeps the fixed cost near zero. For a team that converts large volumes and wants predictable per-user pricing with approval chains, Airwallex's Grow plan gives more controls at a known per-seat rate.

Agent readiness is worth flagging for teams building automations. Airwallex documents three first-party MCP servers, including an AgentOS MCP at mcp.airwallex.com/mcp that connects to a production account and can read and write balances, beneficiaries, cards, invoices and cash flow reports - though the docs state that AgentOS components do not initiate payments autonomously. Wise publishes a first-party Docs MCP server at docs.wise.com/mcp that exposes documentation endpoints only; it carries no account data and has no path to the production API. Account access on Wise runs through its REST API with a personal access token, which works for developers but is not an out-of-the-box agent integration. Teams that want a finance AI to query live balances or update beneficiaries today will find Airwallex further along that path. The decision rule for most buyers is simpler than the agent question, though: if the ledger is NetSuite, Airwallex is the only one of the two with a published connector; if the job is a weekly batch of 200-plus contractor payments at the lowest possible conversion cost, Wise's mid-market rate and batch upload are worth pricing against the specific corridors the company actually uses.

HOW TO DECIDE

Check which accounting system you run: NetSuite users need Airwallex; Wise has no published NetSuite connector.

Price your actual corridors in Wise's on-page calculator before assuming mid-market rate beats Airwallex's 0.5 percent spread.

If an AI agent needs live account access today, Airwallex has a production MCP server; Wise's MCP server is documentation-only.

Why are so many brands shifting ad spend to CTV?

People spend more time streaming than they do with cable, social media or video games, and advertisers know it. In fact, according to Advertiser Perceptions and Premion's 2026 CTV/OTT Advertiser Survey, 70% of advertisers are raising CTV budgets in 2026, with much of that budget diverted from social advertising.

For marketers who want a presence in streaming, Roku is the obvious place to go, with scale that speaks for itself. With more than 100 million households representing 47% of all streaming time in the US, Roku easily has more reach than every competitor.

With Roku Ads Manager, you can reach viewers across more than 100 premium apps in a single buy. Combine your customer data with Roku's insights to reach only the households you want, then measure and optimize to your heart's content.

Want to give it a try? Unleash your first campaign in just four steps: (1) Create your account, (2) define your objective and target audience, (3) upload creative, and (4) launch.
