Mercury goes after the books, not just the bank account
Two things worth noting this week. Mercury is making a direct move into accounting territory that Intuit and Xero have long held, bundling double-entry bookkeeping into its banking product at no cost through year-end. Separately, Digits added a set of continuous quality checks designed to catch the balance sheet and coding problems that tend to surface at close, not before. Neither story is peripheral - both reflect the same underlying pressure on accounting software: the expectation that issues get caught automatically, not manually.
